Benefit-Sharing Initiatives

At the center of WFED's programmatic activity is the practical prevention and resolution of international environmental conflicts. To achieve this goal, WFED designs and implements benefit-sharing initiatives involving cooperative economic, institutional, and scientific arrangements that meet the needs of all parties concerned.

WFED's benefit-sharing partnerships are designed not only to facilitate peaceful resolution of environmental conflicts, but also to promote successful replication in similar international conflict resolution efforts. WFED makes every effort to ensure that the problem-solving arrangements it promotes are as efficient as possible - by making use of existing rather than new institutional structures. Finally, WFED publicizes successful efforts through its education and training program to help ensure that its strategies and approaches are available to the international community.
