The World Foundation for Environment and Development (WFED), located in Washington, DC, is an independent non-governmental organization established in 1992. Our mission is to encourage international cooperation and conflict resolution initiatives in the environment and development fields.
Recognized nationally and internationally for its creative problem solving approaches, WFED works to sustain economic development and conservation of the Earth's biological resources. We seek to accomplish this by: (1) facilitating equitable and efficient access and benefit-sharing frameworks, and (2) producing targeted information tools designed to improve public understanding of the issues underlying environmental conflicts and biodiversity conservation.
